School of Architecture Alumni win Editor’s Choice in Competition
A team recent alumni from the school of architecture received Editor’s Choice in the 2015 eVolo Skyscraper Competition. The team, comprised of architecture alumni Satavee Kijsanayotin, Ben Novacinski, Hannah Mayer, Haydar Baydoun, Mingxi Ye, and Zhifei Chen, designed a beautiful skyscraper that explored expanding the public life of the street vertically and integrating it into what is traditionally reserved for the private realm. The project reimagines the typical typology of skyscrapers with detail on the lower floors and residential above by spreading the uses throughout the structure.
"The concept of Diffused Boundaries, then, seek to blur this rigid division between the public and private programmatic function that exists due to the existing architectural language in all three axis of urbanization through the vertical and horizontal diffusion and dispersion gradient of form and functions.”
