The Architecture of Dr. Seuss (and other imaginative illustrators)

Fall Semester 2011

Adjunct Assistant Professor
Gayla Lindt

Book illustrators create imaginative and compelling worlds that are rich with conceptual representations of form, space, order and meaning. Grounded in the premise that both creation and perception are imaginative processes, students in this workshop will explore children's book illustration through the lens of architecture, examining the role of typology and metaphor in figurative imagination, and the tools and processes of materializing ideas.
