Course Description:
This workshop is an investigation into the role of design in planning for museum exhibitions. Ultimately, students will propose and prototype experience platforms to enhance visitor engagement with one or more of the Bell Museum of Natural History’s habitat dioramas. The proposed platforms (interventions) will specifically address the potential for non-verbal methods of interpretation (without words, graphics, and human voice). The Bell Museum dioramas—in and out of their current installations—will provide the physical, historical, and social conditions into which the interventions are made.
