Engaging Urbanism: Architecture Amidst Infrastructure

Engaging Urbanism: Architecture Amidst Infrastructure

ARCH3250

Instructor:
Dan Marckel, Phillip Koski

This workshop will explore the habits and limitations of infrastructure systems and examine the roles and leadership that architecture can provide in urban place-making. An emphasis will be placed on how physical design inquiry can bridge the many specialties involved in making our cities. In weekly exercises, students will visit sites around the region; conduct analysis and design explorations to uncover the ideas, people and technical parameters that shape our communities; and practice the creative integration that is the designer’s domain.
