Bachelor of Science in Architecture Admission


Students are eligible to apply to the BS in Architecture program after completing all required first-year courses in the Pre-Architecture curriculum.

BS Admission Process

The BS in Architecture program is a four-year undergraduate program composed of 98 required and 22 elective credits. The program is designed for incoming freshmen and transfer students committed to pursuing architecture as a professional career.

Students in the Pre-Architecture curriculum are guided through the application process in the Spring semester of year one in consultation with Academic Advisors in the College of Design. Transfer Admission deadlines and application materials

BS Admission Requirements

1. A recommended grade point average of 2.80 or higher

2. Writing proficiency (admission essay)

3. A portfolio typically consisting of work completed in the pre-architecture program

Graduate Program Admission for BS Graduates: M.Arch Year Two

The BS degree affords graduates advanced standing and the option of entering the second year of the three-year Master of Architecture (M.Arch) program at the University of Minnesota and other graduate programs. Graduates are also eligible to apply to our Master of Science programs in sustainable design, research practices, heritage conservation and preservation, and metropolitan design.
