After a career in Arts Administration, at the Walker Art Center and pARTs Gallery among other venues, Tom Westbrook returned to the University of Minnesota to study architecture. In addition to teaching drawing and design, he is pursuing a Master of Liberal Studies degree, examining representations of architects and architecture in popular media.

He is also Assistant Editor of arq (architecural research quarterly) a journal linking research and practice published by Cambridge University Press. His interests lie at the intersection of art, culture, design, and media and how our ideas and expectations shape our perceptions of the world.
