Monica Fogg, Lecturer
Monica Fogg specializes in visual design and development, undertaking design, fabrication and/or management of diverse aesthetic projects. She has a B.A. in Fine Art from Principia College, an M.A. in Painting from St.Cloud State University, and an M.F.A. in Visual Studies from Clemson University. She has been Lead Scenic Artist for The Guthrie Theater and has additionally been involved with design or execution of work for such organizations as Joffrey Ballet, Paisley Park, Warner Brothers, Disney/Buena Vista, Minnesota Opera, Children's Theatre Company, HSC Scenic Services, Minnesota Historical Society, Dunn County Historical Society and others.
She has taught courses in watercolor, drawing, painting, printmaking, color theory, design in 2- and 3-D, and art history at St. Paul College of Associated Arts, St. Cloud State University, University of Minnesota College of Design, University of Minnesota Compleat and Practical Scholar Program, St. Catherine University, as well as community art centers.
As an artist, her media include watercolor, oil, acrylic, woodcut, and lithography. Her work is in collections throughout the United States, including: Alaska Continental Bank, General Mills, Marathon Oil (Texas), Medtronic, Hurley Hospital (Michigan).
“My personal work is informed and inspired by forms found in nature. I consider and experience the foundations of the earth as symbolic of the ‘grounding’ of spirit. Representation is distilled to form, movement, essence. The process is a dance between concept and emotion.”
